The Marlboro Central School District is pleased to share that Marlboro Middle School (MMS) will soon be designated as an Essential Elements: School to Watch (EE: STW).

This New York State program recognizes schools that demonstrate continuous improvement and excel in four domains: academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and organizational structure. It is a non-competitive program that is designed to promote and guide the school improvement process, as well as highlight the characteristics of high-performing middle schools.

Schools are able to use the EE: STW tools and application kit to guide their school improvement efforts and eventually apply for recognition when they have demonstrated evidence that they are on a trajectory for improvement in the domain areas.

MMS began the process of applying for the EE: STW recognition in 2019, and was named a “Rising Star” school the following year. The School to Watch designation will go into effect starting in the 2022-2023 school year. The status will be effective for three years, at which point the school will need to reapply and be reevaluated in order for the designation to be upheld.
