Marlboro Elementary School welcomed readers, authors, illustrators, and community members on Saturday, October 24, for the MFA’s 1,000 Book Festival, a celebration of literacy, creativity, and a love of reading.

The festival featured 67 authors and illustrators and 12 vendors, giving attendees the opportunity to explore books, meet creators, and connect with the local literary community. The event’s 450 free book vouchers were all claimed within the first two hours, demonstrating the community’s enthusiasm for the festival.

Marlboro Middle School Math Teacher Kathy Keane played a key role in bringing the event to life, supported by approximately 30 adult volunteers and numerous student volunteers. Students representing the Marlboro Central School District’s Art Club, Leo Club, FCCLA, and National Honor Society also assisted throughout the event, helping ensure a successful experience for attendees.

The festival also featured a musical performance by Hudson Valley Voices in Harmony, led by Marlboro Middle School Music Teacher Dr. Stephanie Hu, adding another creative element to the day’s festivities.

The Marlboro Central School District extends its appreciation to Kathy Keane, the adult and student volunteers, the participating authors and illustrators, the vendors, and everyone who contributed to the festival’s success. Their collective efforts helped create an engaging community event centered on literacy and inspiring a lifelong love of reading.
