The Marlboro Faculty Association (MFA), together with the Dukes Fight Together Pink team, once again brought the Marlboro school and greater community together for an important cause: supporting local families affected by cancer.
Staff, students, families, and community members came together for the 11th annual Dukes Fight Together Cancer Fundraiser on Thursday, October 1, at Mary Jane’s Dairy Bar in Middlehope.
Organized by MFA leaders Kathy Keane and her co-chair Monica Taddeo, the annual event begins the fall season with one powerful message: DUKES FIGHT TOGETHER!
Mary Jane’s Dairy Bar owner Margaret Gallo Guarino and her dedicated staff generously supported the fundraiser by creating special “Pink-Tacular” sundaes for the community to enjoy, with 100% of the proceeds donated to the cause.
The community received support from several generous local businesses as well. Mike Sinon of Sinon Farms donated the ice cream mix used to create the special pink sundaes, while Gordon Food Service Inc. generously donated the strawberries. Margaret Gallo Guarino and her team then worked their magic to create the delicious Pink-Tacular sundaes enjoyed throughout the evening.
In addition to the sundaes, Marlboro faculty and staff hosted a 50/50 raffle, sold homemade baked goods generously prepared by NJHS families, and offered cancer-awareness merchandise. The community response was overwhelming, with a line of students, families, staff, and community members stretching around the building throughout the evening.
Despite the wait for pink ice cream, the smiles and conversation never stopped. The delicious sundaes, combined with the compassion and generosity of the Marlboro community, made for an evening filled with school spirit, laughter, and heartfelt support for families facing cancer-related illnesses.
In just three short hours, the Dukes Fight Together team raised more than $3,500 for this important cause.
The Marlboro Faculty Association extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mary Jane’s Dairy Bar, Margaret Gallo Guarino and her staff, Sinon Farms, Gordon Food Service Inc., NJHS families, Marlboro Central School District students and families, faculty and staff, and everyone in the community who came out to support the event or made a generous donation.
“Dukes Fight Together” is more than a fundraiser. It is a reminder of the incredible strength of the Marlboro community and what can happen when schools, families, local businesses, and neighbors come together to support one another.
Together, we fight. Together, we support. Together, we make a difference.
