For the past nine years, the Ulster County School Boards Association (UCSBA) has recognized exemplary community members from each of the county’s school districts with its Distinguished Friend of Education Award. The annual honor celebrates individuals—including educators, volunteers, business owners, and advocates—who demonstrate outstanding dedication to supporting local public schools. This year’s recipients were celebrated during UCSBA’s annual dinner on November 20, held at The Venue at the Best Western in Kingston.
The Marlboro Central School District proudly selected Devon Mullen, president of the Marlboro Elementary School PTA, as its 2024 Distinguished Friend of Education.
Over the last four years, Mullen has redefined what community leadership can look like within the school community. Her drive, vision, and inclusive approach have strengthened the PTA, expanded membership, and broadened the organization’s impact across the district. Under her leadership, the PTA funds field trips for every grade level, hosts a wide range of joyful community events, and coordinates creative fundraisers that bring families together around shared goals.
Mullen’s commitment extends far beyond event planning and fundraising. Her work reflects a deep belief that every child should have access to enriching, memorable experiences both in and out of the classroom. Through her dedication, she has helped create a more connected, supportive school community—one that benefits students, families, and staff alike.
The Marlboro Central School District congratulates Devon Mullen on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for her continued service to the District’s students and families.
