Mary Kay Messenger with a student

Marlboro Elementary School students and staff gathered outside under the American flag for a Patriot Day ceremony on September 11. The event, led by Principal Jena Thomas, was both meaningful and age-appropriate for our K-5 students as they reflected on the importance of unity, resilience, and remembrance.

The school was honored to welcome Master Sergeant MaryKay Messenger, retired vocalist of the West Point Band, who filled the air with patriotic spirit through her performances of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America,” and “Yankee Doodle.” Students proudly joined in singing along, making it a morning to remember.

Together, our school community paid tribute in a way that was heartfelt, respectful, and inspiring for even our youngest learners.
