Instructor Kirby Jones speaks to a staff member.

Staff members from each of Marlboro’s three school buildings recently participated in a behavioral management training program designed to teach practical and effective tools to help safely and effectively manage students during a crisis.

The day-long Handle With Care training, led by experienced instructor Kirby Jones, consisted of both group discussions and hands-on exercises that focused on verbal intervention strategies and other de-escalation techniques that could be used in a variety of real-life school situations.

Superintendent Michael Rydell is supportive of the program, explaining that the idea is to give staff members the tools they need to ensure safe school environments that are conducive to student learning.
