Three students pose for a picture

Grade 7 students in Chelsea Zehnacker’s classes made a splash recently during Marlboro Middle School’s version of the hit reality TV show “Shark Tank.” After spending a month building a company, developing a product, and crafting a pitch, each team presented their invention to a panel of roaming “sharks” (aka judges) in the transformed cafeteria-turned-business floor.

The sharks visited each student-run “company,” asking questions and scoring teams on creativity, product knowledge, professionalism, and marketing savvy. At the end of each pitch, it was decision time—would the sharks bite or pass?

The top five teams who hooked the highest scores were:

1. Seedsteed – Alex, Lupe, Darcy, and Robert (23.6)

2. Adjust-a-Desk – Landon, Olivia, and Yanni (23.1)

3. Eagle Eye Cyber Guard – Erwin (22.6)

4. Case Closed – Kate, Leynie, Savonn, and Gerard (22.2)

5. Ready Binder – Aimee, Sophia, Liliana, Sam, and Mara (21.9)

Bravo to all of our young innovators for diving into this challenge with creativity and confidence!
