Students gathered around broadcasting equipment

Lights, camera, action! Marlboro Middle School launched a “Broadcasting and Podcasting” elective this year, and it’s a hit!

From recording morning announcements to creating fun book promo videos (shoutout to Ms. Kraus for her support!), students are having a blast expressing their creativity.

During the podcasting portion, students work with a professional setup, mastering sound effects, mixing, and even scheduling their own interviews. During a recent half-day demo, participants stepped up to the mic to bring scripts to life—covering a Middle School Baseball game and a commercial for the upcoming performances of The Lion King Jr.

School librarian Kathleen McGee, who runs the class, shared that it was amazing to watch the Dukes lock into their best podcast personas.

This class is just getting started, and we can’t wait to see where it goes next!
