A professional African drummer

Marlboro Middle School embraced the spirit of Diversity Week from March 10-14, bringing students together to celebrate cultures from around the world! A highlight of the week was a special performance by internationally renowned master drummer Maxwell Kofi Donkor and his African drum ensemble on March 13.

During lunch periods, students were immersed in the vibrant sights and sounds of Ghana as Donkor shared stories of his homeland, explained the meaning behind the musicians’ colorful garments, and gave hands-on lessons in traditional drumming. Many of our Dukes joined in—singing, dancing, and playing along to the infectious rhythms!

A huge thank you to the MMS Student Council for organizing this unforgettable celebration of culture and community!
