The Marlboro High School (MHS) Art Department is pleased to announce that several students have won top honors in the 2022-2023 Hudson Valley Region Scholastic Art Awards competition.

Twenty-six students entered this year’s competition, earning a total of 10 Gold Keys, 18 Silver Keys, and 15 Honorable Mentions. A regional awards ceremony for Gold and Silver Key recipients will be held at 7 PM on Friday, February 3, at SUNY New Paltz’s Studley Theatre. Student work will be on display for the entire month of February in the college’s Rotunda Gallery. Gold Key winners will go on to be judged at the national level and, if chosen, will be honored at Carnegie Hall in June.

MHS art teachers Amy Tremblay and Rachel Elder expressed pride in their students and excitement for the opportunity for several of the young artists to be judged at the national level.

“These talented students have worked hard and are very deserving of this honor,” Tremblay said. “We are very proud of all of our students who participated in this prestigious contest.”

The Scholastic Awards is the nation's longest-running recognition program for creative teenagers and the largest source of scholarships for talented young artists and writers. Artistic submissions are judged by luminaries in the visual arts and panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
