Students working

The Marlboro High School (MHS) Library Media Center now has its very own Makerspace! This creative and safe outlet was developed to give students a place to go during their study halls or lunch periods, as well as an area that can be utilized for curriculum-related projects and assignments.

Although they are most often associated with the technology they contain, Makerspaces can actually serve as important tools or environments to support social and emotional learning. The Makerspace at MHS offers several hands-on activities for students to choose from, including crafts, circuitry, robotics, games, puzzles, coloring, and more.

“Engaging in these kinds of activities fosters creativity, builds communication skills, strengthens peer-to-peer relationships, and relieves stress," said Library Media Specialist Shannon Mersand. “Students can apply what they learn in the Makerspace to everyday life, and utilize this knowledge towards building a successful future.”
