MHAL Scholar-Athletes

Emma Schlagler and Dylan Gunsett have been named this year’s Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) Senior Scholar-Athlete Award recipients from Marlboro High School (MHS). The awards, which are given to one female and one male student from each school in the League, are based on academic merit and athletic performance.

With an impressive grade point average (GPA) of 102, Emma earned the title of salutatorian of Marlboro’s Class of 2022. She played Softball and Tennis for MHS, and competed on the Winter Track and Cross-Country teams.

Emma is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and the Spanish Honor Society, and her charitable work includes volunteering at a local animal shelter. In the fall, she will be attending SUNY New Paltz, where she will major in Chemistry. She plans to eventually earn a master’s degree in Teaching.

Dylan is finishing out his high school career with a GPA of 101. He competed on Marlboro’s Soccer, Basketball, Track, and Tennis teams, and earned spots on the Section IX Soccer Coaches Association’s Class B 2022 All-Star Team and the Dutchess County Basketball Association’s 2022 All-Academic Team.

Ranked seventh in his class, Dylan was a member of the NHS, Spanish Honor Society, and Science Olympiad. He will be attending the University of Connecticut in the fall, where plans to major in Biomedical Engineering.
