Three student winners

The Marlboro High School Youth and Government Club participated in the 87th annual YMCA New York State (NYS) Youth and Government Convention in Albany this past weekend, along with hundreds of other students from throughout the State.

During this annual three-day learning program, students in Grades 9-12 serve as part of a model state government, taking over the chambers of the NYS Senate and Assembly to debate bills they and their peers have written. Students are offered the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of issues, develop critical thinking skills, and articulate their beliefs while engaging constructively with their peers from around the State.

All of the delegates from Marlboro put in a tremendous effort and represented the school district well. A bill written by Deni Menendez, Harrison Solomon, and Sophia Montalbano was recognized as an “Outstanding Bill” for the entire convention. Deni was also selected as an alternate to represent New York in the YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs in July.

Great job to these future leaders!
