Congratulations to Marlboro High School (MHS) seniors Marlie Lanzoni and Matthew Bogaczyk for being named the 2025-2026 Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) Senior Scholar-Athletes for the Marlboro Central School District.
The honor recognizes student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence both in the classroom and in athletics, while also showing leadership and dedication to their school communities.
Lanzoni, ranked second in her class, has excelled both academically and athletically throughout her high school career. A standout in basketball and tennis, she served as Girls Basketball Captain and helped lead the team to the 2025 Section IX Championship. She is also a four-time Scholar-Athlete and was named to the Girls Basketball 845 Watchlist.
Beyond athletics, Lanzoni is the Class of 2026 Salutatorian and is involved in numerous organizations and leadership opportunities, including the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT), and serving as Senior Class Secretary. She also participates in MedAchieve Middletown.
Her commitment to service includes volunteering with the National Honor Society, coaching Marlboro Youth Basketball, and volunteering with the Beacon Special Olympics. Following graduation, Lanzoni plans to attend Binghamton University, where she will major in Biology on a Pre-Med track with a minor in Spanish.
Bogaczyk, ranked 17th in his class, has made a lasting impact on and off the soccer field during his time at MHS. A captain of the Boys Varsity Soccer team, he earned numerous honors including Section IX Class A All-Star, Section IX Exceptional Senior, and the Section IX Anthony Martelli Service Award.
Academically and through extracurricular involvement, Bogaczyk is a four-year NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT), and Youth in Government.
His dedication to community service includes serving as a Tobar Futbol Summer Camp Counselor, volunteering with the Marlboro Varsity Soccer Salute to Service initiative, coaching youth soccer, and assisting with Food for Kids.
Bogaczyk plans to attend Mount St. Mary College, where he will be a member of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Team. His current major is undecided.
Both students were honored during an awards breakfast ceremony held on May 28 at the Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston. The event featured keynote speaker Todd Diorio, a Marlboro High School alumnus, who spoke about discovering his passion for football while attending MHS. Diorio continued his athletic career at Mansfield University and later at Marist College, sharing how athletics helped him develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills that contributed to his success in the business world.
Congratulations to Marlie Lanzoni and Matthew Bogaczyk on this outstanding accomplishment and recognition of their hard work, leadership, and dedication.
