Students in a handmade boat in a pool

Students in Thomas Fassell’s Engineering classes at Marlboro High School recently took on a unique challenge: to design and build boats entirely out of corrugated materials! After weeks of planning, prototyping, and hands-on work, the Dukes gathered at the school’s pool to test their creations in a series of thrilling boat races.

While most vessels managed to stay afloat, some designs proved to be faster—and more “seaworthy”—than others. It was an exciting day full of teamwork, creativity, and a splash of friendly competition.

A huge thank you to Rich Croce and Viking Industries for their generous donation of corrugated materials. Without their support, this incredible hands-on learning experience wouldn't have been possible!
