Learning has been coming to life more than ever now at Marlboro Elementary School, thanks to an exciting new platform called zSpace.
zSpace is a cutting-edge technology that combines elements of both virtual and augmented reality in a computer. When used in education, zSpace provides students with innovative and immersive experiences that can’t be found in a textbook. The lessons allow users to interact with simulated objects in virtual environments, whether they are exploring the "solar system," identifying the parts of the human heart, or learning to play the "piano." Users experience this 3D content through a special computer screen, aided by built-in camera and a handheld stylus.
Twenty-four zSpace computers were purchased and set up in the school's STEM Lab this winter and students and teachers have wasted no time getting accustomed to the new technology. Recently, students in Aneisha Cunningham’s Grade 3 class practiced making "pizzas" by following a recipe and completing simple steps such as slicing virtual ingredients, rolling out “dough,” and placing their creations in an oven to "cook."
