Author John Schu poses with a group of students and staff.

Marlboro Elementary School (MES) students were buzzing with excitement on September 21 when the school welcomed John Schu, a multi-talented children's book author, librarian, and former elementary school teacher. Beaming with enthusiasm, Schu shared the magic of being both a reader and a writer, the power of stories, and even treated some lucky students to must-read books that he personally signed for them! His passion for storytelling inspired both students and staff to embrace the world of books.

To wrap up this unforgettable book celebration, Schu shared an intriguing tale about Ivan, a silverback gorilla living in a mall. The students' curiosity about Ivan's escape from captivity led to a special surprise: Carts filled with Ivan’s story, “The One and Only Ivan” by Katherine Applegate, were rolled in by MES staff and a copy of the book was given to each and every student.

Thank you to Library Media Specialist Maureen Stalter and the MES PTA for hosting this exciting visit!
