Ms. Thietje

My name is Kaitlyn Thietje and I am so pleased to join the MES falculty as the general music and chorus teacher for the 2016-2017 school year! You may have seen me around the Elementary, Middle School, and High School before as I have filled in for many music teachers in Marlboro since I began teaching in 2012. I am originally from Wallkill, New York and this will be my first full year teaching music at Marlboro Central School District.  I attended the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York where I majored in Music Education and Kent State University in Kent, OH for my graduate work where I achieved a Master of Music degree.

Some fun facts about me:

I have played the saxophone for about fifteen years now and love it just as much today as the day I started!

I love jazz music and occasionally play with a swing band outside of school.

So far in my music career I have sang in choir, played in Wind Ensembles, Concert bands, Jazz band, saxophone quartets, saxophone duets, clarinet ensembles, and flute ensembles and much more!

I have two twin orange cats named Carlos and Meatball who are brothers and best friends.

During the holiday season you can find me at the Staatsburg State Historic Site pretending to be a maid from the early 1900s for the Holiday Who Done it Program!
