During the month of April all students will be screened for scoliosis. The screening will be done through the gym classes. We will also be looking for other deformities of the back, such as kyphosis and lordosis.

Scoliosis - a lateral or side to side curvature of the spine.

Kyphosis - an accentuated backward rounding of the upper spine.

Lordosis - an accentuated forward curvature of the lower spine.

Scoliosis screening - means an examination of the uncovered spine including the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar segments by viewing from the back, front, and sides.

If I find a student who needs to be referred to his or her doctor, I will call the parent and send a referral form.
